By HILLARY KICHWEN A new voice is rising from the heart of Kisumu City,bringing fresh energy,culture and connection to the airwaves of Nyanza Counties of Kisumu,Migori,Siaya,Homa Bay,Nyamira and Kisii and beyon. Wan Fm 94.8 is a new radio station dedicated to broadcasting primarily in Dholuo,creating a platform where the Luo communitycan celebrates it's language,heritage and way of life. Based in Okore estate of Kisumu,Wan Fm aims to connect listeners across the region through enganging programs civering news,music,culture,sports,entertainment,education and community affairs.The station will give local artists,entrepreneurs,professionals,leaders and ordinary citizens an opportunity to share their stories and talents. With its strong focus on Dholuo programming,Wan Fm 94.8 seeks to preserve and promote the Luo language while embracing modern broadcasting trends and changing needs of its audience. It is believed that the station associated with media personality Javan Onano Tolo.As it set to kick off its programmes,it said that experienced presenters are set to join the workforce of the new station. The birth of Wan Fm has taken the tally of Kisumu based radio station to close to ten.Others are; Radio Wech Maber 88.3,Dala Fm 98.8 Radio Nam Lolwe 97.3,Radio Maria 89.5,Jowi Fm 98.2,Sky Fm 106.1,Urban Radio 90.7,Radio Lake Victoria 92.1 and Kings Fm 90.4.
